Background
On 16 September 2026, the Kosovo Specialist Chambers in The Hague delivered the first-instance judgment in the case against four former leaders of the Kosovo Liberation Army (KLA). Hashim Thaçi and Jakup Krasniqi were each sentenced to 25 years of imprisonment, Kadri Veseli to 18 years and Rexhep Selimi to 13 years. The judgment is open to appeal.
Protests began in Prishtina the same evening and have continued every night since. Salih Mustafa and Pjetër Shala, also former KLA members, were convicted by the same court in separate, earlier cases.
The platform rejects the judgment. Its position is that the KLA's war was a war of liberation, and that its condemnation is not carried out in the name of Kosovo's citizens.
